High performance filter medium especially for smaller aquariums  sera siporax mini Professional was developed especially for smaller aquariums up to a volume of approximately 100 liters. It allows maximum increase of the settling surface for purification bacteria but has a compact shape at the same time. This allows biological filtration even when using smaller filter units. The water parameters stabilize lastingly, the maintenance effort is reduced. Filter and breakdown processes in the bottom ground of natural waters are very important. Organic waste are processed by micro-organisms and are thus available for the natural cycle as a nutrient for aquatic plants – pollutants such as ammonium, nitrite and nitrate are removed. Since little waste per water amount is formed in nature, the present bottom surface is sufficient for housing a sufficient number of micro-organisms. However, an aquarium accommodates a small biotope in little space. It is therefore necessary to maximally enlarge the settling area for ensuring complete and safe breakdown of organic remainders. sera perfectly put this into practice with the unique high performance filter medium sera siporax. Unlike other filter rings available on the market, sera siporax consists of sintered glass. The unique material convinces due to a special three-dimensional pore structure. This allows maximum surface increase. At the same time, the fine pores provide ideal settling conditions for bacteria that break down pollutants. Since it is an interconnected system, the bacteria are permanently rinsed by water nd so can break down pollutants with best possible efficiency. Furthermore, the unique pore array allows for self-purification of the substrate and thus very long filter holding times. In combination with specialized bacteria, sera siporax even fulfills a variety of other special tasks, such as algae prevention or directed water conditioning.

Description

HyperSorb™ is a synthetic adsorbent that outperforms all other blended synthetic media and carbons. It has exceptional organic removal capacity: it removes organic waste, toxic vapors and other pollutants. In freshwater it will help stabilize the ionic balance and will help control ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. It is easily regenerated with household bleach. For use in both freshwater and marine.

Directions

Use in a filter bag such as The Bag. Each 250 mL treats up to 300 L (75 US gallons). Rinse before use. Exhaustion is indicated by a pronounced discoloration of the beads from yellow to deep brown. REGENERATION: Soak in a 1:1 bleach:water solution for 24 hours in a non-metallic container in a well ventilated area and away from children. Use regular 8.25% hypochlorite household bleach (non-scented, no dyes, do not use a splash-less bleach). Rinse well, then soak for 8 hours with a solution containing 4 tablespoons of Prime®, or equivalent dechlorinator per cup of water. Rinse well. For freshwater use, soak for 4 hours with a solution containing 2 tablespoons of buffer per cup of water (Discus Buffer®, Neutral Regulator®). Original color and full activity should now be restored and HyperSorb™ is ready for reuse. Caution: some slime coat products may permanently foul HyperSorb™ and render regeneration difficult. Do not reuse if odor of bleach/chlorine is detectable. In case of doubt, soak beads in small quantity of water and test for residual chlorine with a chlorine test kit.
